My name is Joseph and I am a designer and green wood worker.
I grew up in rural Cheshire, Studied Architecture at the University of Edinburgh and most of the first part of my career involved working for architects producing computer generated images for planning and marketing. Green Wood Work is something that started as a “hobby” in 2006, has developed organically from there and is what I plan to spend the rest of my life/career doing.
I live and work in London.
I use locally sourced timber, traditional hand tools, heritage craft skills and human power to make a range of wooden items for use in homes and gardens.
Details of my other green wood work can be found at The Wood Age (my new website)
I am one of the co-ordinators and tutors at London Green Wood, which is a community led group who teach green wood craft through skill sharing, open workshops and courses.
Most of my work is made in an outdoor workshop based at Abney Park Cemetery, but I have also worked on larger projects on site at Highgate Wood.
Abney Park Cemetery is a 32 acre Woodland Nature Reserve. It is a pleasure to work in such a beautiful and tranquil place surrounded by the bustle of the Urban “Jungle”.
